愛知県みよし市の名古屋刑務所で、刑務官22人が複数の受刑者に暴行を繰り返していた疑いがあることが明らかになりました。
法務省によりますと、名古屋刑務所で去年11月からことし8月にかけて、刑務官22人が、3人の受刑者の顔や手をたたくなどの「暴行」や、「暴言」を繰り返していた疑いがあるということです。
（斎藤 健 法務大臣）
「受刑者の人権に配慮しながら更生に向けて尽力すべき刑務官が、このような行為に及んでいることは断じて許されず、極めて遺憾」
過去、名古屋刑務所では2001年に刑務官が受刑者の尻に高圧の水をかけて死亡させた事件や、2002年に腹に巻き付けた革手錠を、必要以上に強く締めあげて死亡させた事件が起きています。
斎藤大臣は「あれだけ大きな事件があったのに、このような事態になったのは正直理解できない」とコメントしています。
